Annual colloquium at Brookdale May 9

The Center for Holocaust Studies at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will host the 27th annual colloquium for middle and high school students May 9 from 9:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in Collins Arena. Keynote speaker will be Mark Weitzman, director of the Task Force Against Hate and Terrorism for the Simon Wiesenthal Center. He will discuss current world situations and the responsibility of a global citizen. The rock band Creation will share experiences such as funding the building of a school in Mali, Africa, completed in 2006. The band is working with Bill Clinton on the Second Annual Clinton Global Initiative. There will also be several workshops such as "Doctor in Darfur," "Facing Up to Bullying," and "The Shame of Modern Day Slavery."
