Woolley House 5K set for May 12

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - - The township Historical Museum, in partnership with the Ocean Township PTAs, will sponsor the second annual Woolley House 5K Walk/Run Saturday, May 12.

The race will take place at Joe Palaia Park beginning at 9 a.m. The pre-entry fee for the race is $15 and includes a T-shirt if postmarked by April 13. Children under 12 are free if accompanied by a registered adult, but with no guarantee of a T-shirt. Registrations postmarked after April 13 will be accepted, as well as race-day registrations starting at 8 a.m, but with no T-shirt.

All proceeds will be donated to the restoration of the Eden Woolley House, the future home of the museum.

Race forms are available at the museum, the Ocean Township Municipal Building, in the Ocean Township schools' newsletters, Dean's Market and area running supply stores. For more information, call (732) 531-7283.

United Way of Monmouth County conducted its second annual winter coat drive and collected a total of 3,383 winter items that were distributed all over Monmouth County. Out of the 3,383 collected articles, a total of 2,941 of these were coats. The other 442 articles were winter-related items such as gloves, hats, scarves and some winter clothing. Project Homeless Connect, a national grassroots effort to assist the homeless, helped distribute a total of 625 of the donated items throughout Monmouth County. Employees from 37 local companies donated the assorted items.
