Renee Freedman

Mrs. Freedman, 78, of Manalapan, died Feb. 24, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, she had lived in Old Bridge for many years before moving to Manalapan in 1987. She was a teacher's aide in the East Brunswick school system. Mrs. Freedman was a member of the Temple Beth Ohr Sisterhood, Old Bridge. She was also a volunteer for the Center for Holocaust Studies at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, and the Reading for the Blind program, Old Bridge. She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Arnold Freedman, in 1996. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric Freedman of Long Branch, and Mitchell and Tracey Freedman of Deptford Township, Gloucester County; a daughter and son-in-law, Robbi and Adam Balin of Freehold; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Helen Rothenberg of Boynton Beach, Fla.; and two granddaughters, Marta and Andie. Services were held at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, followed by entombment at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Shiva was observed at the Balin residence.
