League hosts eminent domain panel The Monmouth County League of Women Voters, composed of three local area leagues, is sponsoring a forum to present a variety of views and positions on the issue of eminent domain. The event will be held Wednesday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, Student Life Center, Twin Lights Rooms 1 and 2. The league has invited Stuart Meck, R. William Potter and Adam Schneider to present their respective views on the interpretation of laws concerning eminent domain. Meck is director of the Center for Government Services in the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy at Rutgers, the state university of New Jersey. He is a specialist in planning statute reform and is a former national president of the American Planning Association. Potter is a partner in the law firm of Potter and Dickson of Princeton, specializing in land use, environmental and energy law and public utility law. He is a former chairman of the N.J. Coalition Against Eminent Domain Abuse. Schneider, an attorney, has been mayor of Long Branch for 17 years during which Long Branch has undertaken redevelopment of its beachfront, which involves the use of eminent domain, and that use is being challenged in the courts.
