For more information, call (732) 222-6406 or (732) 730-0444. ***** The Jersey Shore Running Club will host its 18th annual 5K run on the promenade and boardwalk in Long Branch April 7. In addition to the 5K race, the event will include a 2-mile fitness walk and kids' races of various distances. The race is being sponsored by the Long Branch PBA Local 10. Portions of the proceeds will be used to benefit the Patrick King Scholarship Fund awarded to a local high school graduate at Long Branch High School, and to Holiday Express. The 5K run will begin at 11 a.m. and the 2-mile fitness walk will begin at 11:05 a.m. with the children's races following at 11:30 a.m. Preregistration will take place the day of the event beginning at 9:30 a.m. Entry forms are available at several running stores in the area or can be downloaded from the Web site at www.jsrc.org. The event is free for attendees and employers. To make a table reservation, contact Patricia Carlesimo at patti.carlesimo@ladacin.org or Victor Alvarado at victor.alvarado-@dol.state.nj.us. ***** Monmouth Beach School PTA will host its annual 3-mile run May 12 beginning at 9 a.m. The run has been renamed the Shana Wasserman Memorial Run in memory of the former 19-year-old resident who died in December of bacterial meningitis. A freshman at Green Mountain College in Vermont, Shana was a swim instructor at Little Monmouth Beach Club, where she touched the lives of many children and adults. Pick up registration forms at Monmouth Beach Borough Hall or online at mbschool.org. To be guaranteed a T-shirt, register by April 27. Tickets are $15 for the run, $10 for kids' races. Food and refreshments will be available. There will be educational material available on bacterial meningitis at the run, as well as the opportunity to donate to the Shana Wasserman Foundation. The rain date for the event is scheduled for April 11. Children up to 10 years of age are invited to the egg hunt and are asked to bring their own baskets to the park to search for the hidden eggs. For more information, call (732) 222-0400. ***** The Long Branch Historical Association and the Long Branch Arts Council will kick off the summer season with the ninth annual "Art in the Park" outdoor art show. The event will be held one block from the beach in West End Park on the corner of Brighton and Ocean avenues in Long Branch Sunday, May 27. Sculpture, works on canvas and paper, hand-crafted fine jewelry, hand-sculptured pottery and ceramics, mixed media, and photography will be represented. The show will be juried with cash prizes offered in several categories. Artists' applications along with a $25 fee must be made by April 30.
