'The Little Mermaid' at Strand and Monmouth U

Performing Arts Ensemble will present "The Little Mermaid," a music and dance fantasy for the whole family, March 25 at the historic Strand Theatre, Fourth and Clifton avenues in Lakewood. The large, fully staged production will feature professional scenery, many costumes, and special effects. Guest Artists from The Met, young company performers, and children who were chosen by audition to appear as little fish will perform in the show. Audience members will attend Ariel's Fairy Tale Wedding with other fairy tale characters such as Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding Hood, and many more. Tickets are $24, $20, and $16 with a $4 discount for children and seniors. Group rates are available.

A performance is also planned for Monmouth University's Pollak Theatre, Cedar Avenue, West Long Branch, 2 p.m. May 6. This performance will feature a shorter version of "The Little Mermaid" and a shortened one act version of "Cinderella." Details and tickets: (732) 671-9655 or (732) 706-7675.

Alexandra Gardell, New York City, a former Middletown resident, will star as Ariel, "The Little Mermaid."
