Wayside School celebrates Read Across America

Students in Mrs. Reiff's morning kindergarten class listen to guestreaders from the Kean University football team.
OCEAN TOWNSHIP - - Wayside Elementary School welcomed Kean University football Coach Dan Garrett and 18 Kean University football players on March 2, to celebrate Read Across America and Dr. Seuss' 102nd birthday.

Wearing their football jerseys, the college athletes read Dr. Seuss books to each class at Wayside School and emphasized the importance of reading. Wearing red and white "Cat In The Hat" hats, the students were engaged as they listened to Dr. Seuss favorites.

"We're very fortunate to have Mr. Garrett and his team visit our school for the second year in a row. The children love Dr. Seuss, and really enjoy having the athletes visit us and read," said David Enderly, Wayside Elementary principal.

The program also served as a service project for the Kean University students.
