The Cub Scouts of Pack 1 in Monmouth Beach will have their annual Blue and Gold Dinner Sunday, March 18, at The Channel Club in Monmouth Beach. The dinner is both an awards ceremony and a birthday celebration for the Cub Scouts organization, which was formed in 1916.
Twelve senior Webelo Cub Scouts (in fifth grade) will be awarded the Arrow of Light, the highest level of recognition a Cub Scout can attain, according to Cubmaster Ray Smith. The Scouts are Marshall Culver, Samuel Henning, Evan Jones, Alex Lambert, Andrew Maita, Kyle Marhan, Joseph Nardone, Nicholas Natale, Daniel Navarrete, Matthew Neuwirth, Tyler Schick and Kevin Stickle.
During the Arrow of Light ceremony, each of the younger Scouts will recognize the work of those Webelos. There will also be a crossing-over ceremony for the 12 Scouts, who are advancing to become Boy Scouts.
Performing at the event will be the Order of the Arrow Native American Dance Team. They will dance in traditional American Indian styles and tell the story of Scouting.
Thc younger Scouts will be formally advanced to the next level at the dinner. The Tigers will become Wolves, and the Wolves will become Bears. The Bears will become Webelos. Each of the dens have been working on different badges, and those who have earned them will receive them at the dinner.
