Hannah McLeod Carnright Chappell

Mrs. Chappell, 97, of Tinton Falls, died Feb. 24, 2007. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., she resided in Newark, Bloomfield, and Shrewsbury before relocating to Tinton Falls in 2004. Mrs. Chappell was employed at New Jersey Bell Telephone Co., retiring in 1974,. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank - Tower Hill. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and the Scarlet Ladies at Kensington Court, Tinton Falls. She was predeceased by her first husband, William E. Carnright, in 1957; her husband, Percival "Pete" Chappell, in 1990; two brothers, George and John McLeod; and two sisters, Isabella Burlington and Jean McCrea. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne Carnright Neiderhoffer and Harold S. Neiderhoffer of Monmouth Beach; a sister, Helen Crowe of Needham, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Geraldine Popkin of Red Bank and Pamela Chappell of Neptune City; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Entombment was at Fair View Cemetery Mausoleum, Middletown. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank.
