Four will vie for three BOE seats

LONG BRANCH - Four candidates are vying for three open seats in the Long Branch School District Board of Education election in April.

Three incumbents are being challenged by one newcomer for the open three-year terms on the board.

Incumbents Michele Critelli, Westwood Avenue; Armand R. Zambrano, Vanderbilt Avenue; and Avery W. Grant, Atlantic Avenue, are seeking re-election on April 17.

Newcomer Andrew Zangrillo, Coral Place, is also seeking a position on the nine-member board.

The Long Branch School District comprises some 5,000 students in 11 schools and is designated by the state as an Abbott School District.

The designation qualifies the school system to receive additional Abbott funding to provide a "thorough and efficient" education to its students.
