Are high schools ready for a changing world? Reg. meeting Feb. 22 to discuss future of high schools
The New Jersey High School Redesign Steering Committee, composed of the leadership of New Jersey's education, business and higher education communities, will continue its statewide conversation on high school reform throughout New Jersey with a meeting for parents, community members, educators and the general public at Long Branch Middle School.
The meeting, scheduled for Feb. 22, 7-9 p.m., is one of five scheduled to take place throughout the state. A variety of topics relating to the future of New Jersey's high schools will be discussed at the meeting, including globalization and technological advances, required skills for students entering the workforce or going on to further education, how New Jersey students measure up, and action steps to improve the quality of the high school experience for our state's students.
The committee will use attendee feedback from this meeting, along with information garnered from meetings with educators to create a white paper with recommendations to present to education policy and decision makers.
The meeting will take place in the Long Branch Middle School auditorium at 350 Indiana Ave.
Scheduled to attend are: Lucille Davy, commissioner, State of New Jersey Department of Education; Joyce Powell, president, New Jersey Education Association; Edwina Lee, executive director, New Jersey School Boards Association; JoAnn Bartoletti, executive director, New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association and others.
