Man found critically injured in city
Prosecutor, police investigate cause of WLB man's injuries
BY CHRISTINE VARNO
Staff Writer

LONG BRANCH - The Mon-mouth County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the circumstances that left a West Long Branch man in critical condition on Chelsea Avenue last week.

On Feb. 2, at approximately 4:11 a.m., Long Branch police received a report that a man was injured and lying on the ground in the area of Chelsea Avenue.

The man was identified as Antonio Pragosa, 50, of West Long Branch, owner of TJ Tire and Auto Repair on Long Branch Avenue.

Pragosa is currently being treated at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune.

According to First Assistant Prosecutor Peter Warshaw, Pragosa received a call early Friday morning regarding a problem at the building he owns on Chelsea Avenue.

Warshaw would not comment further on the nature of the problem.

Later that morning, Pragosa was found at the site and had sustained traumatic injuries, according to Warshaw, who said the extent of the injuries are not being made public.

The Prosecutor's Office, in conjunction with the Long Branch Police Department, is investigating the incident and has not determined whether the injuries are a result of criminal activity, according to Warshaw.
