St. Rose High School announced plans to host the 28th annual Run for the Roses Grammar School Invitational Basketball Tournament. The Run for the Roses Tournament, a Jersey Shore tradition for the past 27 years, has been a showcase for some of the finest young basketball talent in New Jersey. Back in 1979, St. Rose High School created a tournament with the goal of attracting a small field of teams to a postseason competition that would emphasize both quality play and good sportsmanship. Since then the Run for the Roses Tournament has grown to become one of the largest tournaments in the state, and the premier elementary school basketball tournament at the Jersey Shore. The tournament, sponsored by the St. Rose High School Athletic Club, is open to elementary school teams from Monmouth and Ocean counties. The tournament begins the last weekend in February and continues for approximately three weeks.

The deadline for applications is Feb. 8. For information or an application, e-mail the St. Rose High School Athletic Club at burke6161@aol.com.
