Holy Trinity Church in Long Branch will host social/ballroom dances on the third Saturday of each month in the parish hall on Prospect Street from 8 to 11 p.m. The next dance is scheduled for Jan. 20. Singles and couples of all ages are welcome. Admission for the event is $10, $8 for seniors. Lessons in ballroom dancing will be offered from 7 to 8 p.m. prior to the dance at a cost of $4. The Long Branch Chamber of Commerce is hosting a free "Big Splash" event on Feb. 1 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa on Ocean Boulevard. Members of the chamber and the business community are invited to attend the networking cocktail party.

The Long Branch Senior Center on Second Avenue is offering assistance with federal and New Jersey state FAIR forms on Mondays and Tuesdays during February, March and the first two weeks in April. The service is free and available for seniors in Long Branch, West Long Branch, Monmouth Beach and Oceanport. The Monmouth University Alumni Association will host a wine tasting Saturday, Feb. 17, 6 to 8 p.m., in the university's Woodrow Wilson Hall, West Long Branch. Attendees will sample wines from around the world, enjoy hors d'oeuvres and mingle with friends during the event. Tickets are $26 for alumni, $25 for the first guest, and $30 for each additional guest. The alumni ticket price includes a $1 contribution to the alumni legacy scholarship fund. Monmouth University's radio station WMCX will host "Rock Out," a fundraising concert in honor of Christopher Cosgrove '05, a U.S. Marine who was killed in Iraq in October. The money raised will be donated to Marines Helping Marines and Soldiers' Angels.

The concert, for ages 16 and older, will be held Feb. 3, 7 to 11 p.m., in the Student Center, Anacon Hall. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the door or in advance by calling Donna Mancini at WMCX radio at (732) 571-3482. Bands will include Raposo, Hyjinx, No Fold, Hudson, Racing Kites and Above the Ambulance.

"The Roaring Twenties," a talk about the Township of Ocean Historical Museum's recent exhibit on the colorful decade, will be featured at the Ocean Township Branch of the Monmouth County Library, 701 Deal Road, on Thursday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. The exhibit explores the cultural, political, technological and social themes of this fascinating time, depicting many significant events including Prohibition and the stock market crash. There is no charge.

Programs at the Ocean Township Branch of the Monmouth County Library this month will include: "Let's Get Knitty," for people who enjoy knitting and crocheting, Monday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m.; Family Game Night, Feb. 7, 6:30 p.m., bring games to share; and a screening of "Jurassic Park," Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. There is no charge for the programs. Rotary International District 7500, covering central New Jersey, is participating in the "Driven to Read" program, which is a statewide joint effort between the New Jersey Auto Dealers Association and Rotary International districts and clubs in New Jersey.

The program focuses on providing free books to children who lack the resources to buy their own. Rassas Pontiac/Buick is involved with the collections of books in the greater Red Bank area.
