MLK Memorial Guild plans week of events

The Long Branch Martin Luther King (MLK) Memorial Guild will kick off the celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. week of Jan. 8, at Salem Baptist Church on Third Avenue at 7:30 p.m.

On Jan. 9, a youth night will be held at the First Baptist Church on Bath Avenue at 7 p.m. and a Family Night will follow Jan. 10 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Broadway at 7 p.m.

On Jan. 11, a Gospel Night will be held at Trinity A.M.E. Church on Liberty Street at 7 p.m. and an MLK Soul Food Dinner will be held Jan. 12 at the Portuguese Club on Broadway at 6:30 p.m.

On Jan. 14, an MLK March will begin at 2 p.m. at City Hall on Broadway and will proceed to Second Baptist Church.

To conclude the week-long events, an MLK Birthday Observance will be held at MLK Memorial Park on Atlantic Avenue at 10 a.m.
