Police: Burglaries target Vietnamese families

EATONTOWN - A 75-year-old woman and two 1-year-old children became the third Vietnamese family to become victims of home invasions and burglary at the Stony Hill Apartment complex recently.

According to a press release from the Eatontown Police Department, the 75-year-old woman answered a knock at her door at around 6 p.m. on Dec. 30 and was forced into the residence by a suspect described as a 6-foot-tall adult black male.

"The suspect covered the victims with a bed sheet. The suspect then searched the apartment and fled when the victim made a phone call for help," the police release states.

All of the victims are related, according to the release, and the children's parents were not home at the time of the incident.

"The victims are members of Eatontown's Vietnamese community," according to the release. "This is the third Vietnamese family to be targeted in the Stony Hill Apartment complex recently. The two previous incidents are burglaries that occurred while no one was at home."

Anyone with information regarding this or previous incidents is urged to call the Eatontown Police Department at (732) 542-0100.

The case is being investigated by Detective Kenneth Kleinman.
