Lecture on morning hand pain at SCAN Jan. 24

Arthur P. Vasen, M.D., hand and orthopedic surgeon at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, will present "Why Do My Hands Hurt in the Morning?" Jan. 24 from 1-3 p.m. at SCAN Learning Center, Monmouth Mall, Eatontown.

Vasen will discuss common hand problems and the surgical and nonsurgical treatment options. The talk is free to SCAN members, and membership is open to individuals age 50 and older.

Tours, support groups at center during January

Monmouth Medical Center, 300 Second Ave., Long Branch, will present "Kids Need Support, Too," a support group for children and adolescents with family members diagnosed with cancer or other serious diseases Jan. 3 from 7-8 p.m.

The diabetes insulin pump support group will meet Jan. 3 from 7:30-9 p.m. Tours for pediatric patients having a surgical procedure at Cranmer Ambulatory Surgery Center will be Jan. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 3-4 p.m. To register, call (732) 923-6525. Tours of the Eisenberg Family Center for expectant mothers will be Jan. 7 and 21 at 1:30 p.m.

The medical center's community health fair will be Jan. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and feature information on various health-related topics, and free screenings. Tours of the radiation oncology department will be Jan. 12 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. To preregister, call (732) 923-6462. The Smoke Free support group will meet Jan. 23 from 7-9 p.m.
