Tucci was elected to serve on the executive board of the New Jersey League of Municipalities during the statewide organization's recent convention in Atlantic City . An elected official for more than 20 years, Tucci was re-elected to the Mayor's Office in West Long Branch on Nov. 7. ***** The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Planning Authority (FMERPA) will hold its regular monthly meeting on Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. in Eatontown Borough Hall, 47 Broad St. The public is invited to the meeting of the authority, the state-sanctioned entity that is overseeing future uses of Fort Monmouth after it closes in September 2011. ***** The United Methodist Women of Old First United Methodist Church will hold their Christmas Bazaar in the Social Hall at 197 Locust Ave. in West Long Branch this Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Luncheon will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. ***** Project Pride (Promotes Responsibility in Drug Education), a state Department of Corrections-run program that sends inmates to universities and schools to talk to students about the wrong choices they have made and the resulting consequences will be held at Monmouth University's Wilson Hall Auditorium Tuesday from 5 -6 p.m. Three inmates will share their stories of how their decisions involving alcohol and drugs changed their lives forever and landed them in jail. The program is free and open to the public. "A Holiday Moosical," a play about a moose who wants to fly with Santa's reindeer, will also be presented by Woodmere students on Friday, Dec. 15, at 9 a.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. The show also features performances by the school's chorus and band. ***** Employees of Kay Honda and Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Eatontown, will participate in a charity flag football game to benefit Toys for Tots, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon at Count Basie Field, in Red Bank. For three hours inside the high school in Tinton Falls, senior citizens and the students, along with Monmouth Regional social studies teachers Tamara White and Adam Evans, packed up the goods for shipment. ***** The Greater Shore Concert Band, a 50-piece orchestra under the direction of James Bast, will play a holiday concert at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 992 Broadway in West Long Branch Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend the concert which will feature popular musical selections plus holiday music and a sing-along. Refreshments will be provided and a free-will offering will be taken. For information, contact the church office at (732) 229-9180 or via e-mail at Reformation@WLB@verizon.net. ***** Long Branch-based Kiely Equipment Co. is sponsoring local swimmer Don Walsh who will attempt to be the first New Jersey native and current resident to swim around the Isle of Jersey off the coast of England. Walsh plans to swim the 41.5 miles in August to raise funds for the Naval Special Warfare Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes health and welfare programs and perpetuates the history and heritage of the Navy SEALS. Walsh, 60, said he is swimming to honor the 11 SEALS who lost their lives in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wing in June 2005. ***** A ceremony was held Nov. 9 honoring state Sen. Joseph Palaia (R-11) for his lifelong dedication to the needs of New Jersey students and educators. A Champion of Education award was presented by the New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association at a luncheon at Trump's Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Palaia, who is retiring at the end of this term, began his career as a teacher in 1950. Over the next 32 years, his ongoing commitment to the causes of education in New Jersey led him to positions of leadership. In 1981, he moved from a career in education to a career in politics, advancing from the local level to the state level. *****
