Brookdale to honor Holocaust survivors The Center for Holocaust Studies at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will honor Claire and Adam Boren, Rumson, at the 15th annual testimonial dinner and journal tribute Nov. 16 at 6 p.m. at Excelsior Caterers, Manalapan. The Borens are both survivors of the Holocaust and are well known for their participation in Jewish organizations. Mrs. Boren was the recipient of the 2002 Women of Distinction Award from the Jewish Federation of Monmouth County. Mr. Boren survived Majdanek, Auschwitz, and Sachsenhausen concentration camps and a death march before his liberation in May 1945. His story is told in his memoir, "The Journey Through the Inferno." He is an active officer in the International Warsaw Ghetto Resistance Organization, the David S. Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies, Washington, D.C., Monmouth County Jewish Federation, and the Jewish Community Center. Keynote speaker is Bertram Korn Jr., associate director and co-founder of the David S. Wyman Institute. He will discuss historical and contemporary issues of Holocaust denial.
