180 Turning Lives Around gives thanks to supporters We thank the community for their wholehearted generosity and support that mad our 30th anniversary gale an unbelievable success. It seemed like only yesterday that in 1976, 180 Turning Lives Around Inc. established a rape hotline in Monmouth County and 459 survivors were counseled. Today, 180 has helped nearly 300,000 victims and their families break free from the cycle of domestic violence, abuse, and sexual assault. To commemorate 30 lifesaving years of service, we recently held our anniversary gala. The event was successful beyond measure and we thank special guests Jon Bon Jovi and Tipper Gore, gracious advocates of our charitable achievements. Dynamic hosts of the evening, Philip and Tammy Murphy, opened the doors to their home and devoted a tremendous effort toward ensuring a memorable fundraiser. Philip Murphy - event co-chair and 180's board president - and Tammy Murphy - event co-chair and 2nd Floor advisory council chairperson - have ushered in a new era at 180 believing that "change is always possible." This powerful statement encapsulates the theme of our 30th year in service to the community. Indeed, 180 has helped thousands make the changes necessary to turn their lives around. We gratefully acknowledge our sponsors, gala guests, 180 board, staff and volunteers for their diligence and contributions. Your generosity inspires us to help thousands more find the courage to overcome adversity, recognize their worth and find their inner strength. This October, 180 invites members of the community to recognize Domestic Violence Awareness Month. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, call for immediate assistance on our toll free 24-hour hot lines for domestic violence at (888) 843-9262 or (732) 264-4111, and for sexual assault (888) 264-7273 or (732) 264-7273. Youth can reach out to our confidential resource, the 2nd Floor youth help line at (888) 222-2228 to discuss any issue on their minds. Visit www.180nj.org of www.2ndfloor.org for more information.
