Suspect arrested for invasion of privacy

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Residents of an apartment complex detained a suspected Peeping Tom until the police arrived on the scene.

On Sept. 23, police were dispatched to an area outside an apartment building in the Twinbrook Village complex in reference to a person who was caught allegedly peering into an apartment window.

According to police, when they arrived at the scene, three residents of the complex were detaining the accused, Edgar Torres. One of the residents said that while he was walking his dog, he witnessed the accused hiding near a tree and peering into an apartment window. The resident confronted the accused and detained him with the assistance of two other residents.

Township police have been investigating three separate similar incidents that have occurred in the complex since August and have charged Torres in the incidents.

He was charged with three counts of invading the privacy of another and released on criminal summons.
