L.B.: 5 vie for lone council seat LONG BRANCH - The order in which candidates' names will appear on the ballot in the city's Nov. 7 municipal election for the open council seat was drawn last Wednesday. Five candidates are seeking the single opening on council. The first spot on the ballot went to former Green Party candidate for state Senate and county Freeholder Brian Unger, who launched his campaign earlier this month to fill the unexpired term of former Councilman John "Fazz" Zambrano. Former council candidate Ralph "Flip" DeFillipo, who ran in the May election on the New Wave Team, received the second spot, followed by Councilwoman Jackeline Biddle, Vincent Maccioli and finally Michael Sirianni. Biddle was appointed by council in August to fill the seat vacated by Zambrano, who resigned in July after pleading guilty to extortion. Biddle will serve the council term until the November election, at which time all five candidates will vie for the council term, which expires in 2010.
