Brookdale Community College Alumni Association will be accepting submissions for the 20th annual Juried Art Show on Friday, May 12, noon to 8 p.m. in the Center for Visual Arts (CVA) lobby at the Lincroft main campus. The show is open to all artists 18 years and over. Entries are limited to two per artist in one category or two. The show runs from May 19 through June 18. For information, call (732) 224-2705.

Keyport artist Florence Hill is exhibiting works concurrently at three venues throughout March. "Animals in the Hall" will be at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave., through April 2; "Fire" is part of the current exhibit at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County, 30 Monmouth St., through April 4. Hall also has works in the Women's Art Show at the UUC Meeting House, 1475 W. Front St., Lincroft.

The 2006 Monmouth County Teen Arts Festival will take place Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Brookdale Community College, 765 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft. The festival is sponsored by the Monmouth County Arts Council and Brookdale and is open to all Monmouth County teenage students ages 13-19 and brings together teens and teachers in all disciplines of the arts to participate in workshops, performances and exhibits and critiques of work. Writer's Ink, the resident poets' group at the Red Bank Public Library, will present a poetry reading March 18 at 1:30 p.m. marking the third anniversary of the beginning of the war in Iraq. "War, Peace and Politics," will feature readings by poets Gladys Goldberg, James D. Gwyn, Laine Sutton Johnson and Vincent Larkin. Open readings and refreshments will follow. The programs are free and registration is not required.

"Autumn Impression," a photograph by Jennie Meares, has been chosen as winner of the People's Choice Award at The Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury. Ballots were cast by gallery visitors for the winner among the 162 images in the recent "Eye Sights 2006" all-members photography show and sale. Meares, Matawan, is a guild member and award-winning freelance photographer.

The Shrewsbury Players Dessert Theater will present "Plaza Suite," a comedy in three acts by Neil Simon on March 17 and 18 at 8 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church House, 352 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury. Comedian Joel Chasnoff will present an evening of hilarious Jewish comedy March 18 at 9 p.m. at the Herbert and Evelyn Axelrod Performing Arts Center at the Jewish Community Center, 100 Grant Ave., Deal. Dessert reception and cash bar 8-9 p.m. Tickets $25.

The Bluegrass & Oldtime Music Association of New Jersey will present its March stage show and jam session featuring five bluegrass, country and folk bands on Sunday, March 19, 1-5 p.m., at Embury Methodist Church, on Church Street in Little Silver. The Monmouth Symphony League will host a spring musicale on Thursday, March 23, at 1 p.m. at the Lincroft Presbyterian Church, corner of West Front Street and Everett Road. Marjorie Koharski, flute and piccolo, and Winnie Burke, piano and violin, will provide the musical program. Both are members of the Monmouth Symphony. The curtain goes up on "Urinetown" at the Jersey Shore Arts Center at 8 p.m. on March 24 The musical tale of greed, corruption, love and revolution in a time when water is worth its weight in gold, is being presented by NenaProductions Theater Project of Ocean Grove. Additional performances are March 25, 31 and April 1 at 8 p.m., and April 2 at 3 p.m. The Jersey Shore Arts Center is located at Main Street and Main Avenue at the entrance of Ocean Grove.
