Phil Villapiano Field of Hope Gala Nov. 12

The 10th annual Phil Villapiano Field of Hope Gala to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s ALS Research Initiative will take place Saturday, Nov. 12.

The elegant black-tie event is being held to raise money to help strike out amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. More than 5,000 people are diagnosed with the disease each year.

The fundraiser will be held at the Garden Manor in Aberdeen from 7 p.m. to midnight.

The event was founded by football great Phil Villapiano, Rumson, a former all-pro linebacker with the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills.

According to Villapiano, the gala has raised more than $1 million.

This year’s honorees are Vincent Raine of Rubin & Raine and Ann McNamara, former mayor of Tinton Falls.

Highlighting the evening will be The Drifters, featuring Rick Sheppard, along with silent and live auctions for signed sports memorabilia, jewelry, art, vacation getaways, golf packages, children’s items and more.

A limited number of tickets are still available.

To purchase tickets or donate auction items, call the Shrewsbury District of MDA at (732) 389-0855.
