Bus stuck under trestle

LONG BRANCH — A school bus transporting children on Friday became lodged under a low-clearance trestle on East Bourne Avenue.

The school bus, owned by J&M Keelan Transportation Corp., Belmont Avenue, did not clear the 7-foot-high clearance trestle between Sears and Indiana avenues at approximately 8:44 a.m. last week.

Several students were transported to Monmouth Medical Center, according to Detective Lt. Bruce Johantgen, who said on Tuesday that the age and number of children on the bus were not known.

The bus was later towed to police headquarters for further investigation, according to Johantgen.
