Man stabbed in altercation
BY CHRISTINE VARNO
Staff Writer

LONG BRANCH — The city police department is investigating a stabbing that occurred over the weekend at a birthday party.

On Oct. 9 at approximately 1:15 a.m., police officers responded to a report of a fight in the area of South Seventh and Hillside avenues, according to reports.

Officers Michael Verdaderio, Marshall Brown, Marcos Rodriguez and Joseph Kennedy arrived at a residence on Hillside Avenue and after speaking to subjects in that area, they learned that there was a birthday party at one of the residences and were told there was no fight.

The officers left the scene after they were told that the party was breaking up, but at approximately 2:10 a.m., the officers were summoned back to that address on a report of another fight, according to reports.

Upon arrival, officers observed a stabbing victim, identified as Uellees Terto, 23, of Ocean Boulevard, who was transported to the trauma unit at Jersey Shore University Medical Center by the Long Branch First Aid Squad, police said.

Terto’s injuries were found to be not life threatening, and he was released from the hospital later that morning.

Upon further investigation officers learned that an argument took place at the residence and an unknown subject stabbed Terto.

As of Tuesday, no arrests had been made, and police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call (732) 222-1000, ext. 5329.
