Notes On Sunday, Sept. 11, the Monmouth County Park System will sponsor its 22nd annual Sprint Triathlon at Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, Ocean Avenue in Long Branch. A Jersey Shore tradition, the Sprint Triathlon consists of a quarter-mile swim, a 13-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run. Sept. 17 from 1-5 p.m. Tours of the library will be held throughout the day in English, Spanish and Portuguese. At 2 p.m. Christopher Volpe, Long Branch Middle School teacher, will be recognized for his outstanding contribution to the community. There will also be free workshops on home ownership, mortgage loans and legal advice. Free piggy banks will be available for children while supplies last. There will be piñatas, raffles, food, crafts, music and much more. ***** The Ocean Township Community 5K Fun Run/Walk will be held on Oct. 1 starting at 9 a.m. in Joe Palaia Park. Come to the Strauss Mansion every Sunday from now until the end of September and pick up some good biographies, romances, mysteries and more, all for $3 a bagful. The Strauss Mansion is the restored Queen Anne home of the historical society and is located at the corner of Prospect and East Mount avenues in Atlantic Highlands. Open every Sunday 1-4 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Atlantic Highlands Historical Society. ***** The fifth annual Sea Bright Day is set for Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Ocean Avenue in downtown Sea Bright in and around the former Peninsula House parking lot. Wrestling legend King Kong Bundy will be part of the celebration. There will also be a flea market sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sea Bright Fire Department. Spaces are available to anyone for $10 in advance or for $15 without a reservation. The Rev. Rob Long, pastor of the Sea Bright United Methodist Church, invites all to bring their family pets for a special “pet blessing” on the beach at 10 a.m. Used books and fresh baked goods will be sold to benefit the borough library, and mums will be offered for sale by the town’s Beautification Committee. Sea Bright caps, sweats and T-shirts will be sold by the borough’s Public Relations Committee. Hot dogs, burgers and sodas will be available through the Sea Bright Fire Department and Police Department will conduct a bicycle rodeo and obstacle course. Inflatable rides for children will be available for free, courtesy of the Sea Bright Recreation Committee. All-day entertainment and crafts will be followed by a concert by the local band The Wag at 2 p.m. Free admission and parking are available at the former Peninsula House lot.
