Matthew Stovall Jr., a student at Monmouth County Vocational School, Long Branch, recently took first place of $350 in the “Defensive Driving ... Avoid Road Rage” contest sponsored by the New Jersey Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias, Brick.

Elizabeth Lehmann, Long Branch, was recently named to the honors list for the spring semester at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck. Honors students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or better.

Nadine Hurd, a senior at Long Branch High School was recently named a 2005 Coca-Cola National Scholar, and awarded a $4,000 Regional Coca-Cola Scholarship for college. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation recognizes high school seniors that have demonstrated academic and civic excellence in schools and communities. She joined 249 high school students nationwide that competed for the 50 national scholarships of $20,000, and 200 regional scholarships of $4,000. Scholars were chosen from a pool of more than 100,000 representing approximately 16,000 high schools nationwide.

Michelle L. Sacco, West Long Branch, recently received a bachelor’s degree in biokinetics at the spring commencement exercises at Eastern University, St. Davids, Pa. While at the school, she was also a member of the soccer team, and Exercise Science Students Association. A graduate of Shore Regional High School, West Long Branch, she is the daughter of Joan and Nicholas Sacco.
