The Shrewsbury Chorale and the Garden State Philharmonic Chorus will join forces under the baton of Anthony LeGruth to present Songs of Love and Life” June 4 at 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Red Bank (Tower Hill). The program features the Liebeslieder Waltzes of Johannes Brahms, and Carl Orloff’s “Carmina Burana.”

Celebration! animation art gallery will host an appearance by Kent Melton Saturday, June 18, 2 to 5 p.m. Melton is an artist and sculptor for Disney, Warner Bros., DreamWorks and other major film studios and is renowned for creating 3-D sculptures for animated films and the cartoon collectibles industry. The gallery will feature exclusive one of a kind pieces available only for this event. All sculptures are for sale.

Quinn Chapel A.M.E. in Atlantic Highlands will begin an arts program aimed at bringing together children and families in its home community and surrounding towns. “A Community Art Project for Children and Families” will include activities like learning to write poetry, community performances and recitals, a literary arts newsletter and art exhibits. The program will be held in the chapel’s educational wing and is open to all children, ages 4 to teens, as well as families. The program will begin June 4, 11 a.m.-noon, with author/poet and teaching artist Virginia Bryan, Neptune Township. Other teaching artists and artists will be involved. Registration fee is $10 and the monthly fee is $10 with a discount for families with two or more children. For information, call (732) 291-1078.

The competition is heating up for Keyport’s third annual Battle of the Bands on July 30 at the Mini Park at the intersection of Main and West Front Streets. Hosted by the Keyport Business Alliance, the event includes prizes, recording studio time and featured appearances at future festivals, street fairs and special events in Keyport and other locations. The winning bands are judged on musicianship, showmanship and fan interaction. To be eligible to compete, bands should send a tape or CD, press kit, photographs, resumes or bios and at least two references to Allen Consulting, 89 Middletown Road, Holmdel 07733.
