Thanks extended to supporters of ACR218

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the many people who have contacted my office regarding their support for a special session in the legislature to consider property tax relief and reform.

I am the primary sponsor of ACR218 that would require the legislature to meet, by way of special session, to identify the means to provide for property tax relief. I have led the fight to deal with tax reform. The residents elected state legislators to do this job — they should be doing it.

I have serious reservations regarding the proposed Constitutional Convention. A constitutional convention that only considers taxing, not spending, is not worthy of the taxpayers’ time and expense. Even if the results of the proposed convention were beneficial to the taxpayer, the effect would not be felt for several years. Property taxpayers need relief today, not in 2008.

Once again, I want to thank you for your letter of concern and to assure you ACR218 can provide the proper forum to bring tax relief and reform without the need for a constitutional convention.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at my office with any additional questions at (732) 708-0900, or my Web site at www.corodemus.com.
