Obituaries Violetta A. Kocsis Mrs. Kocsis, 84, of West Long Branch, died Oct. 21 at St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, following a lengthy illness. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she relocated to West Long Branch in 1959. Mrs. Kocsis was a homemaker. Prior to that, she sang on the radio during the 1940s. She was a member of the Friends of West Long Branch Library, and The Jean Conroy Auxiliary at Monmouth Medical Center. Mrs. Kocsis is survived by her husband of 60 years, Ernest J. Kocsis; a son, Cornelius Kocsis; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Mayor “Tucker” Nicol of Brielle; a sister, Mary DiStefano; and two granddaughters. Entombment took place at Woodbine Cemetery, West Long Branch. The Worden-Hoidal Funeral Homes, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, was in charge of arrangements. Dominick G. Musich Mr. Musich, 91, of Long Branch, died Dec. 5 at home following a lengthy illness. He was born on the island of Cres, now part of Croatia, and as a young man relocated to the United States where he resided in New York City prior to moving to Long Branch. He was the owner and operator of The Miramar, New York City, retiring in the 1980s. Prior to that, he worked at various restaurants in New York City. He was a communicant at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, West End section of Long Branch. He was active in several business-related organizations, and was also involved in the Croatian Club even after relocating to Long Branch. He is survived by his wife, Marian Mari Musich; a brother, the Rev. Nicholas Musich, S.J., of Italy; a son, Rodger Musich of Queens, N.Y.; a stepson, Allan Angerio of Washington, D.C.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be Dec. 10 at 9:30 a.m. at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church. Entombment will be at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport.
John Michael LaManna Mr. LaManna, 79, of Little Silver, died Nov. 3 at home. He was born and raised in West Brighton, N.Y. He was a professional meat cutter at A & P, Woodbridge, retiring after 28 years’ service. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct, American Campaign, European African-Middle Eastern Campaign, and World War II Victory Medals. He attended church regularly at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Asbury Park Mount Carmel Post No. 1333, and the Italian-American Club of Ocean. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and Yankees. He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Anthony LaManna. He is survived by his wife, Inger; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda and George Economy of Rumson, Karen and David Mangino of Staten Island, N.Y., and Judy LaManna of Long Branch; and four grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation, West Long Branch. Arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown. Vincent J. Alvino Mr. Alvino, 89, of Allenwood died Nov. 4 at home. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Long Branch prior to moving to Allenwood one year ago. He was a retired self-employed roofer. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus. He was predeceased by his wife, Elsie Valenti Alvino, in March; a son, Robert D. Alvino, in 1972; and a grandson, Adam Alvino, in 1994. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Vincent J. and Janice Alvino of Allenwood; a brother, William Alvino of Colts Neck; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Trinity Church. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. John Albert Trim
Mr. Trim, 60, of Long Branch, died Nov. 25 at home. Born in South Orange, he had been a resident of Long Branch since 1965. He was a retired business owner. Mr. Trim was predeceased by his parents, George and Angela Trim; and a brother, Savino “Sandy” Trim. He is survived by a son, Robert Trim of Atlanta; three daughters and one son-in-law, Jill and Darren Applegate of Barnegat, and Jacqueline Trim and Allison Trim, both of Rumson; a brother, Dr. George Trim of Toms River; a sister, Lisa Bova of Toms River; and four grandchildren. The Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, was in charge of arrangements.
