AVID grant applications now being accepted

The Center for Effective School Practices at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, has announced the availability of grants to help schools prepare students to succeed in college. Grants are available through the advancement via individual determination (AVID) program.

AVID is a national initiative that works within the regular school day and includes tutoring and an elective class on college preparation, writing, inquiry, collaboration and reading skills.

The grants are offered over a two-year period and provide support for teacher training and implementation of the program. Schools may receive approximately $16,575 for the first year, and $7,500 for the second.

Application deadline is Feb. 11. For application materials or more information, call Regina Kuczbanski at (732) 564-1189 or visit cesp.rutgers.edu/avid.
