Police raid nets 17 pounds of marijuana LONG BRANCH — Authorities charged two men with possession of more than 17 pounds of marijuana last week as the result of an ongoing investigation by city police. William Locust, 20, of Grant Court, and Roy T. Davis, 44, of Athens, Ga., were arrested about 2:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at a Cottage Avenue apartment complex after a search warrant was executed by the police department. Police charged Locust and Davis with possession of marijuana over 5 pounds, possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and distribution within 1,000 feet of a school zone. Both subjects were transported to the Monmouth County Jail, Freehold Township, in lieu of bail. Bail was set by Superior Court Judge Robert O’Hagan at $200,000 for Davis with no 10 percent option. Superior Court Judge Paul Chaiet set bail for Locust at $75,000 with no 10 percent option. The investigation was carried out by the Community Response and Criminal Investigation units of the Long Branch police department and the Monmouth County Narcotics Strike Force. The investigating officers seized the drugs, according to police reports.
