Grandin N. “Bud” Paddack

Mr. Paddack, Brick, died July 17 in Long Branch. He resided in Eatontown for 40 years before moving to Brick two years ago. He was a machine engineer at E.A.I. Electronic Associates Inc., West Long Branch, where he was employed for 20 years before retiring. Mr. Paddack served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by a son, James N. Paddack, in 1972; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Anne Dragun, in 1981. Mr. Paddack is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nora A. Macfie Paddack; two sons and one daughter-in-law, the Rev. John N. Paddack of Staten Island, N.Y., and Donald F. and Patricia Paddack of Lake Dallas, Texas; two daughters, Donna L. Paddack-Dragun of Lake Katrine, N.Y., and Debra A. Paddack-Thomas of the Wanamassa section of Ocean Township; a brother, Robert Paddack of Atlantic Highlands; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Memorial Mass was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown, was in charge of arrangements.

Joseph Sokol

Mr. Sokol, 83, of Long Branch, died Sept. 12 at home. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., he resided in Long Branch most of his life. He was a postal worker at the United States Postal Service, Long Branch, retiring 20 years ago. Mr. Sokol served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 742, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2140, both Long Branch. Mr. Sokol is survived by his wife of 42 years, Josephine Andolino Sokol; two nieces and a nephew. The Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, was in charge of arrangements Memorial donations may be made to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, Long Branch Chapter, 480 Ocean Blvd., Long Branch 07740.

Frederick William Smith

Mr. Smith, 96, of California, died Aug. 15 at Extended Care Center at Riverside, Riverside, Calif. Born in Congress, N.Y., he had lived in Port Monmouth before moving to Perris, Calif., seven years ago. Mr. Smith was employed by the state of New Jersey for 20 years before his retirement. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Grace Collins Smith, in 1995; two sisters, Gladys Dellarina and Augusta Brown; and a brother, Albert Smith. Mr. Smith is survived by a son, James Smith of Long Branch; two daughters, Catherine Jackson of Riverside, Calif., and Grace Tonks of Wall; and six grandchildren. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Carmel “Millie” Dispenziere

Mrs. Dispenziere, 93, of Succasunna, died Aug. 23 at Merry Heart Nursing Home, Succasunna. Born in Newark, she resided there, in Rockaway, and Eatontown for 38 years, prior to moving to Succasunna. She was a retired bookkeeper at Bamberger’s, Newark, and for her family’s shop, B and D Blouse Factory, where she also served as the head of payroll for 100 employees. She enjoyed travel, and doing needlepoint. She was a member of the Eatontown Senior Citizens Group. She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Joseph Dispenziere in 1984; and a sister, Angelina Lubrani. She is survived by a sister Anna Cardinale of Rockaway; and several nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. Burial was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Orange. Arrangements were by Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown.
