Two stabbed in LB fights

LONG BRANCH — Two city residents were stabbed on the night of July 27 as the result of two separate street fights.

A 13-year-old male was arrested at approximately 8:30 p.m. that night after he allegedly stabbed an 11-year-old male with a pocket knife on Schulz Place in the Woodrow Wilson Homes complex, according to Sgt. Thomas Shea, watch commander of squad three.

According to police reports, the two youths were having an argument in the street when the older youth allegedly pulled a knife on the younger youth.

The 13-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, according to Shea. He was transported to the Youth Detention Center in Freehold.

The 11-year-old sustained a laceration on his arm and was transported to Monmouth Medical Center for treatment, according to the police report.

Later that night, at approximately 10:44 p.m., police said two males were fighting outside Club La Isla on Belmont Avenue after hanging out together earlier that night.

Gerardo Galdamez, 24, of Second Avenue, was arrested and charged with stabbing Jose Colon 25, of the same address, in the right arm with a knife, according to police reports.

Galdamez was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Shea said.

The victim was treated for a severe laceration at Monmouth Medical Center and was released later that night.
