Chamber swears in new officers, presents awards

The Greater Ocean Township Chamber of Commerce installed its new slate of officers at the annual awards and installation dinner in early January.

Sworn in as president was Christine Giordano Hanlon. Mark Horowitz will serve as vice president, and Michele Brennan as secretary. Elected as treasurer was William Golda. New trustees sworn in were Carol Cohen, Carol DiCola and Helen Kaye.

The Businessperson of the Year Award went to K. David Holmes of Ladacin Network (formerly Cerebral Palsy of Monmouth and Ocean Counties), Wanamassa section of Ocean Township. The Community Service Award was given to Carin and Solomon Greenspan. Solomon is partner-in-charge of J.H. Cohn, Eatontown, and Carin is an assistant teacher. The Greenspans are also founders of the Ocean Township Little League’s Challenger Program for special needs children. The Chamber Service Award went to Mark Horowitz. Horowitz has served on the chamber’s board of directors for several years, and is beginning his second year as vice president.

The Beautification Award was given to Jeff Klein Realty for renovation of its building at 208 Monmouth Road, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township.

The Employee of the Year was bestowed on Ana Dowland of First Atlantic, Eatontown and Long Branch. She has served as project manager at Ronald McDonald House, Long Branch, and has also served as an interpreter.

The chamber will hold a breakfast meeting Feb. 13 from 8-9:30 a.m. at Ladacin Network, 1701 Kneeley Blvd., Wanamassa section of Ocean Township. The guest speaker will be Detective Shawn Murphy of the Ocean Township Police Department. The cost is $5, and reservations are required.
