Program on area Native Americans Feb. 27

The Monmouth University anthropology faculty will give a free presentation about the history and culture of the Native Americans Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave. The public is welcome to attend the free program about Native Americans who lived in West Long Branch, Long Branch, Monmouth Beach and Little Silver.

The presentation will include authentic photographs and artifacts, as well as updated information on the lifestyles of Jersey Shore Native Americans. Attendees are welcome to share experiences and bring artifacts, which can be documented and possibly identified by Monmouth professors and students.

For more information, call Dr. Richard Veit at (732) 263-5699. If an individual is unable to attend, the department of history and anthropology is still interested in hearing about the individual’s experiences to further understand and document Native American activity in the area. For information, call Kathy Smith-Wenning at (732) 222-1038.
