Achievement awards deadline will be Jan. 8

VSA arts of New Jersey (VSA/NJ), New Brunswick, is accepting applications for its 2004 Art Achievement Awards until Jan. 8. The nonprofit organization is dedicated to assuring that the arts are available and accessible to individuals with disabilities.

The Achievement Award competition honors New Jersey students ages 14-21, not to exceed 12th-grade level, who are classified and in mainstreamed, inclusive or self-contained classes or activities. Recipients become candidates for the New Jersey Governor’s Awards in arts education.

The achievement awards include the Student Arts Excellence Awards for outstanding achievement and commitment to an art form, and Education in the Arts Awards presented to educators and administrators for creating high-quality arts programs for classified students.
