JEFF GRANIT Long Branch Public Safety Director William Richards, playing in the first Long Branch FMBA Local 68 golf tournament at the Old Orchard Country Club, Eatontown, is putting for par at the first hole but bogied the hole instead. Richards said Elmer Fudd took possession of his golf swing.

Congregation Brothers of Israel is having its annual rummage sale at 250 Park Ave., Elberon, on Sunday, May 25 from 9-6 p.m. Prices will be cut after 4 p.m. Items that will be for sale include clothing, furniture, books, jewelry and attic treasures.

The 14th annual Business and Retail Expo, sponsored by the Greater Ocean Township Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Long Branch Chamber of Commerce, will be held May 29 at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center, Eatontown, from 5-8 p.m.

A spaghetti dinner will be sponsored by the Long Branch Elks’ handicapped children’s committee every second Friday of the month. Dinner will be served 6-8 p.m. The price for the "all you can eat" meal is $6, or $5 for the early bird special 5-6 p.m. For more information, call (732) 222-9742.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program food pantry at 111 Union Ave. will be sponsoring "no qualifiers needed" days. Anyone who has not used the services of the food pantry during the 2002-2003 year will be eligible to do so on these days: June 3 and July 1 from noon until 3 p.m. A social worker will also be available in the pantry office to help with any concerns or questions. A workshop on how to deal with grief will be held by the AARP Bereavement Outreach Program of Monmouth County from 2-4 p.m. Friday, May 23, at the Monmouth County Library, Route 35, Shrewsbury. Loraine Niemela and Denise Weiner, artists and owners of Artscapes, will speak about how to bring art into the life of someone who is grieving in order to heal.
