DUBE, 87, of Eatontown died Sept. 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, he lived in Penns Grove and Carney’s Point prior to moving to Eatontown in 1991. He was a retired pipefitter at DuPont Corp., Deep Water, where he was employed 39 years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. His activities included golf, gardening and bird watching, as well as membership in the Sakima Golf Club. He is survived by his sister, Florence E. Buckley of Eatontown; his nephew and his wife, Steven D. and Jean Marie Buckley; two grand-nephews; and one grand-niece. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1054, Eatontown 07724-1054. IDA ANASTASIA LANCASTER, 78, of West Long Branch died Sept. 6 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Jersey City, she relocated to Long Branch in 1948, and lived there and in Oceanport prior to moving to West Long Branch. She was treasurer and tax collector for the borough of Oceanport for 25 years, retiring in 1990. She was a parishioner, treasurer and member of the Old First United Methodist Church, West Long Branch. She was a 30-year member and past grand officer of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 266, Eatontown. She was also a member and past grand officer of the Daughter of the Nile, Trenton. She was predeceased by her husband, Rocco Anastasia in 1961, and her husband, Mahlon Lancaster in 1982. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Heidi Anastasia of Massachusetts, and Michael and Darlene Anastasia of Howell; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Anastasia and Steve Trachtenberg of West Long Branch, and Theresa Anastasia of Long Branch; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother; and seven sisters. A memorial service was held at the Old First United Methodist Church, West Long Branch. A committal service was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. RICHARD S. "BUGGS" TILTON, 75, of Ocean died Sept. 9 at home. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident, and also resided in Melbourne, Fla. He was an electrical engineer at Fort Monmouth, Department of Defense, Eatontown, for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He also received government patents for several of his electronic devices. He was a parishioner of and deacon at First Presbyterian Church of Long Branch. He was a member of the Oceanport Recreational Committee and was responsible for the addition of its tennis courts. He was active in Scouts and was a Cub Scout Master and Troop Counsel for Troop 58, Oceanport. His activities included golf and boating. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patsy Kraft Tilton of Ocean; his son, Craig R. Tilton of Albuquerque, N.M.; his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie L. and Steve Clay of Stafford, Va.; and four granddaughters. Interment was at Glenwood Cemetery, West Long Branch. Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Long Branch, 167 Cedar Ave., Long Branch 07740. GEORGE D. ARCHER, 69, of Farmingdale died Sept. 5 at home. Born in Long Branch, he had lived in Freehold for 44 years before moving to the Farmingdale-Howell area. He was a land surveyor for Charles Widdis & Co., Long Branch, for the past eight years. He is survived by his wife, Doris M.; a son, David W. of Farmingdale; a daughter, Diane Camhi of North Long Branch; a sister, Caroline Archer of Toms River; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 21 at First United Methodist Church of Farmingdale, 8 Main St., with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Richards officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902. DOROTHY M. PASSERO, 82, of Monmouth Beach died Aug. 28 at her daughter’s home in Rumson. Born in Queens, N.Y., she lived in Neptune for 40 years before moving to Monmouth Beach. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, Neptune. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Passero, in 1985. She is survived by a son, Thomas Passero of East Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and George Serbe of Rumson; a brother, Joseph Florio of South Carolina; a sister, Bernadette Raffa, Long Island, N.Y.; and four grandchildren. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. WILLIAM J. MOSHER SR., 80, of Tinton Falls died Aug. 26 at home. Born in Hudson Falls, N.Y., he had lived in Lincroft and Shrewsbury before moving to Tinton Falls in 1965. Mr. Mosher was co-owner and founder of Red Bank Drapery Shop, Red Bank. He previously was a drapery buyer for various department stores, including Montgomery Ward in Maryland, Scranton Dry Goods in Scranton, Pa., and Stanfords in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he received a bachelor’s degree and was a member of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Mr. Mosher was predeceased by two sisters, Marjorie and Lucille Mosher. He is survived by his wife, Mary C. (née Mullen); three sons, William J. Jr. and Robert, both of Tinton Falls, and James of Magnolia, Del.; three daughters, Carolyn Burns of Jackson, Elaine Mutz of Brick and Nancy Mosher of Woodbridge; and six grandchildren. Interment was in Holmdel Cemetery, Holmdel. |
