Monmouth beach

A resident from the Shores, 45 Ocean Ave., called about a suspicious person wandering the halls ringing the doorbells on July 9. The person turned out to be a magazine salesman who was admitted by the security personnel at the front desk. The salesman was asked to leave the building.

The week of July 10 the Police Department received numerous complaints abut the solicitors within the borough selling magazines after hours and repeated callbacks. They were all from American Community Services out of Indiana, police said. One of the solicitors was arrested in Oceanport on outstanding warrants from out of state. They were asked to leave the area after the complaints.

Numerous complaints were received from residents about an odor coming from the Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority plant. The sewer authority was advised and was reported to be working on the problem.

An incident of criminal mischief was reported in the business area at Beach Road and Riverdale Avenue at 11:05 p.m. July 11. Shopping carts along with potted plants were put into the roadway.

James Sanderson, of Neptune, was arrested and charged with driving while his license was suspended after being stopped in a Division of Motor Vehicles roadblock on Ocean Avenue at 11:55 a.m. July 11.

New Jersey State Police Marine Unit called and asked for assistance in locating several intoxicated juveniles in the area of the Patten Avenue Bridge at 2:20 a.m. on July 13. Long Branch police also were called. No suspects were located.

Whitney J. Malone, of East Orange, was arrested on charges of driving while suspended, being uninsured and failure to exhibit documents after a motor vehicle stop at 2:20 a.m. July 5. He also was found to be wanted on outstanding warrants out of East Orange and Watchung borough. He was picked up by Watchung borough police.

EATONTOWN

A 2000 Mitsubishi was vandalized while parked in the Monmouth Mall lot overnight on July 5. The driver’s side doors were dented and the windshield was shattered.

A 1999 Chevrolet van at Pine Belt Chevrolet on Route 36 was entered by breaking the door lock on July 3 and a wood grain steering wheel was stolen from the van.

A 1996 Mercury was entered at the Motor Vehicle Services agency on Route 36 and a purse was stolen.

Two black males operating a dark blue minivan stole three shirts from Casual Male Big & Tall on Route 36 and fled in the van.

Jamie Stark, an 18-year-old male, of Elizabeth Parkway, Eatontown, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and Darin Fuhro, a 19-year-old male, of Broad Street, Eatontown, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, a butterfly knife, at Victoria Commons on Hope Road July 7.

west Long Branch

Someone entered the locked car of an Ocean Township resident in the parking lot of Consumer Centre on Route 36 on July 10 and stole 100 compact discs valued at $1,000, a CD player valued at $50 and a radar detector valued at $100. Entry of the vehicle in the burglary and theft, which was reported at 8:15 p.m., appeared to have been gained through a partially opened window.

In another theft, someone entered an unlocked vehicle in the parking lot of Consumer Centre on Route 36 at 11:10 a.m. on July 14 while the owner was in Home Depot and stole his wife’s pocketbook from the back seat. The purse contained personal identification cards and a small amount of cash.

An unknown person used a counterfeit $10 bill to purchase food at the Hungry Hobo on Locust Avenue sometime between July 10 and 11. The restaurant reported the forgery but said employees don’t remember who passed the bill.

Someone entered the garage of a building on Norwood Avenue and stole a dirt bike valued at $1,000 sometime between July 1 and 10.

In an instance of criminal mischief, an employee of Long Branch Floor Covering on Broadway reported at 8:30 a.m. on July 6 that overnight four rocks had been thrown through four windows in front of the store.

The Esplanade Hotel on Route 36 reported at 10:54 a.m. on July 9 that a television valued at $500 and a VCR valued at $200, which had arrived during the night for a conference, had been stolen from the conference room sometime between 10:30 p.m. and 7:45 a.m.

Christopher Fisher, 57, and Denise Smith, 57, of Long Branch, were charged with theft after being observed leaving a business in back of Cost Cutters shopping center on Locust Avenue at 11:55 p.m. on July 6. Police on routine patrol saw the pair leaving the building and found them to have in their possession several sleeves of hot cups and plastic cups, straws, paper plates, plastic garbage bags and a bottle of bleach, with a total value of $84.22. The owner of the business said all of the items were stolen.

Long Branch

Guy Davis, 50, of North Fifth Avenue was arrested and charged on July 9 with possession of heroin, possession with the intent to distribute and possession with the intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school.

A delivery man for Cluck-u-Chicken reported on July 10 that he had received a phony $100 bill for the payment of a delivery on Chelsea Avenue.

Thomas W. Kirchner, 48, of Seaview Avenue and Lisa E. Brown, 62, of Seaview Avenue were arrested and charged on July 10 for theft by deception after soliciting money in front of the Foodtown for parents against drunk drivers. Investigation showed no such chapter existed in New Jersey. Brown was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Holmdel in the amount of $7,762.

A Long Branch Avenue resident reported on July 11 that a black male opened a window to the rear of the bedroom and reached inside the bedroom as the light was turned on. The suspect fled on foot

An Atlantic Avenue resident reported on July 11 that someone attempted to steal an air conditioning unit from a window. The subject fled while the resident called the police.

Jimmie Washington Jr., 33, of Bath Avenue was arrested and charged on July 11 for burglary and theft.

Police are investigating the report of swastikas that were spray painted on an Eaton Avenue driveway on July 12 along with other obscene symbols and words.

Dale Coger, 47, of Long Branch Avenue was arrested and charged on July 14 for aggravated assault of a police officer, hindering apprehension and making terrorist threats.

Police are investigating a July 15 trespassing incident in which a subject entered an abandoned home on Laurel Street and removed copper plumbing from the heating system.

A Division Street resident reported on July 15 damage to his 1993 Honda Civic. Numerous wires were removed from underneath the hood in what appeared to be a possible attempt to shut off the alarm system. Damage is estimated at $3,500.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP

Harold Bray, 25, of Asbury Park was arrested and charged on July 6 for possession of crack cocaine, being under the influence of a controlled substance, hindering apprehension, contempt of court and for driving while under the influence.

James T. Reynolds, 20, of Ocean Township was arrested and charged on July 7 for possession of ecstasy, cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, as well as for being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Vincent Gennaro Anepete, 21, of Waretown was arrested and charged on July 8 for possession of crack cocaine, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a knife, and contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop in which he was a passenger. The driver, Jessica Marjorie Stewart, 18, of Waretown, was arrested and charged for possession of crack cocaine. Other passengers in the vehicle were Daniel Mathew Callicchio, 20, of Barnegat, arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine and contempt of court; and a 17 year-old female of Manahawkin who was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine.

Maury J. Lasky, 57, of Cranford was arrested and charged on July 6 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Highway 35 and Deal Road.

A Stonehenge Drive resident reported on July 7 that her home was hit with eggs for the third time.

A 600-pound concrete Buddha statue was lifted from a flower bed in a yard on Christy Lane and smashed in the roadway July 7. On July 8 the damaged Buddha was stolen.

A walk-in freezer located at a property on Wickapecko Drive was pried open on July 7 and a wash tub bucket of cheese was taken.

Vinicio A. Adams, 23, of Ocean Township was arrested and charged on July 8 for driving while intoxicated while on Aldrin Road.
